Interactions and dialogues within the surrounding landscapes in which I live make me question its history and origin. Observations and rumor begin to blend and become myth with these interactions and dialogs of its occupants. This motivates me to make installations that create an immersive environment to facilitate the recollection of memories or imagination. These installations invite the viewer in to the space to interact and become a part of the experience.
My work focuses on the creation of interactive space that evokes feelings of nostalgia; an attempt to facilitate the appreciation of the subtle things that could be over looked. These ideas evolve from regional influence using ideologies or icons of local subcultures. The installations are comprised of discarded and appropriated objects from the local area. The artifacts used in these installations persuade the viewer to question the space and relationship to the identity presented. By giving the community the ability to interact, creates a greater level of association and intimacy to the moment presented.
